FORGIVENESS OF SIN
God’s love for us is so amazing we cannot even put into words how awesome His redeeming love is. We are left in awe as we think of His never-ending mercy. He paid the price that our sins might be forgiven. I marvel at how the hymn writer wrote the words: “What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus; what can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.”This truth is found in the Holy Writ in Ephesians 1:7:
“He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.”
Here the writer of Ephesians recorded words around God’s amazing grace. This grace involves giving a gift. This gift, given through the blood of Jesus Christ, brings redemption to believers. The eternal purpose of God is fulfilled in one whose nature is to be loved. We are reminded that we love Him because He first loved us and laid down His life for us. We have redemption through His blood. That should cause us to shout. The forgiveness of sin cost so much: it cost God to give us His Son and it cost Jesus’s blood. We cannot even explain such love. Today, take time to give God thanks for the forgiveness of sin.
