Forgive My Hidden Faults

One of the real blessings in writing these daily devotions is that it provides me an opportunity to examine myself. I often find that I stand in the same place as the readers.  In other words, these devotions are not to judge or to condemn others, for I have faults of my own.  All of us have faults, some are more visible than others, but rest assured we have them.   When I go before God, I ask Him to forgive me of all of my faults: the ones that are seen as well as those that are hidden. In Psalm 19:12, we find these words:

“How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults.”

The psalmist stands before God praying that he will be cleansed from his secret faults.  I find myself, today, asking God to cleanse me from all unrighteousness and to take away my hidden fault of anger that sometimes comes into my heart.  I may not outwardly show it, but when I am angry, it is at that very moment that I am far from God — He does not dwell in unclean places.  I never want to be removed from God.  My prayer today is simply this, “forgive my hidden faults.”  Prayerfully, you will join me as I join the psalmist in this powerful prayer.
