Fool’s Language

Sometimes we need to listen to the words coming from our mouths. The words that flow from our mouths should be full of wisdom, but often the opposite is true. We have heard people say things like, “you will never amount to anything.”  That is fools’ language, because we know that according to Philippians 4:13, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Therefore there is nothing we cannot do or be! In Psalm 53:1, we find these words:

“Only fools say in their hearts, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good!”

The psalmist indicates a fool is one who dismisses ethical and religious claims. A fool in his mind denounces God as he says in his heart there is no God. The psalmist is overcome by the moral religious state of the people of his day. He sees God looking down to see if there are any who are wise. God is still looking today for those who are wise. I pray today that we can all say, as in Joshua 24:15,  “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.”
