It is so important that as believers, we follow the Lord’s example. He gave us instructions on how to live; we must be willing to carry out those instructions so that our lives will be pleasing to Him. He called us to do what He has so freely done for us — to be concerned about, to love, and to forgive others. We cannot claim to be naïve or say that we are unaware of what the Lord requires of us. He tells us to do exactly
what He has done, to be humble. In John 13:15, we find these words:

“I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.”

Jesus, the Master Teacher, is in the upper room with the disciples. Jesus stooped down to wash the disciples’ feet. One of the disciples said to Him, “Lord, you are my Lord and teacher. I should be washing your feet.” Jesus responded, saying that He wanted them to “wash one another’s feet.” Jesus set the example by stooping and washing the disciples’ feet. This was an act of love and humility. We are called to follow the Master’s example. He says, “Now that you know these things, God will bless you for doing them.” Prayerfully, we are each striving to follow the examples of the Master. He will bless us when we do!
