God has given us examples to follow on how to love, how to forgive, and how to serve. We cannot say that we do not know what to do. All we have to do is follow the Lord’s many wonderful examples.  Instructions can be found in the Ten Commandments. Additionally, we have several examples of how Jesus lived. Therefore, we cannot plead ignorance. Following the Lord’s example is crucial to our daily life.

In John 13:15, we find these words:

“I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.”

Jesus washed His disciples’ feet. Even though there was betrayal and denial in the room, the Master did the work of a servant by washing His disciples’ feet. Then He said to them, in verses 14-17, “Since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet … Do as I have done to you … Slaves are no greater than their master… Now that you know these things, God will bless you…’” That is how Jesus lived on this earth: with humility and a heart filled with love. We will be blessed for following His example. Prayerfully, each day, we are all carrying out the examples He set for us — to love God, and to love one another.
