We should all pay particular attention to today’s devotion. In my humble opinion, we need to know that we have been set free from sin. If we keep our minds on Jesus, we can live a victorious life. Sin will not reign over our lives. This does not mean that we will not be tempted by sin. However, it does mean that we have been liberated from sin and live victorious lives as we focus on the Master. There is no temptation that the Lord is not able to bring us through. Unfortunately, many believers do not realize the power they have, because Jesus took on our sin. In Romans 6:17 we read our devotional text:

“Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you wholeheartedly obey this teaching we have given you.”

Paul writes that we are no longer servants of sin, but we are set free by the hand of God. Paul knew that sin led to death and he knew that our obedience in following the Lord leads to righteousness. A way of escape has been made. Sin no longer reigns or holds us captive. Those who were once slaves to sin have been set free. Thanks, be unto God today that we can declare that the blood of Jesus has set us free from the penalty of sin. Never take your eyes off the Lord. Stay focused. Do not be naive. Do not fall asleep. Satan is like a roaring lion seeking whom He may devour. Satan may have power, but his power is no match compared to the Lord. Do not allow satan to trick or deceive you. Pay attention and let your eyes and hearts always be on the Lord.
