FEELING SORRY FOR YOURSELF

Today’s devotion focuses on not feeling sorry for yourself. Don’t allow past mistakes to deprive you of the blessings that God has for you. Forget the mistakes and remember the lessons. Do not walk around in gloom and doom. Stop saying, “Woe is me.” We have a God who grants to us new mercies every day. If you need to do anything, encourage yourself in the Lord. You are blessed no matter what your situation is. Whether your distress is sin, lack of finances, or poor health, remember that we serve a God who cares for us. Get over it. Enjoy the blessings of a new day. Hold your head up high and know that you are a child of God. Philippians 4:13 is our scriptural text today.

“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”

Underline these words:  I can do all things. Paul has learned to be content in whatever situation he is in. He refuses to host a pity party. He has learned the secret to live in all situations: whether with a full or empty stomach, with plenty or little. Paul thanks the Philippians for their concern toward them. He puts his faith and trust in God. He is aware that he has the strength he needs to overcome every situation in life. Read this chapter when you get a chance. Take on Paul’s attitude of gratitude. Instead of complaining, give God thanks.
