Fear of the Lord

God has been good to each of us. Take a moment and reflect on His blessings. We cannot count the many blessings we have received from the Lord. We are obligated to give Him thanks and offer Him our hearts, souls, and minds. He has forgiven us for our sins and has literally made ways out of no way. The fear of the Lord should be in our hearts. Fear in this case means reverence, honor, and respect. Unfortunately,  it seems as though some of us do not fear the Lord the way we should. In 1 Samuel 12:24, we find these words:

“‘But be sure to fear the Lord and faithfully serve Him. Think of all the wonderful things He has done for you.’”

Samuel reminded the people that God had chosen them to be His people. He also reminded them of the Lord’s goodness to them. In verse twenty-four he exalts the people to serve the Lord with all their heart, and to give reverence to Him, or to fear Him. He also reminded them to consider the great and glorious things the Lord had done. It is my prayer today that we all have the fear of the Lord in our hearts. Recognize all that God has done, and honor Him. Acknowledge His greatness each and every day.
