ENJOY THE ASSIGNMENT YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN

I remember some time ago, when Senior Pastor Alyn E. Waller of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church preached about enjoying “the journey”. It was a deep and profound message where he called upon God’s people to enjoy the journey that God had put them on. In other words, enjoy the assignment that God has given to you. Yes, in this assignment there will be ups and downs, trials, and troubles. However, they cannot be compared to the joy that comes when one seeks to serve the Lord. We cannot be caught up in our next assignment or envy another for their assignment. We must enjoy the assignment that we are on right now. God gives each servant an assignment and they all vary. However, He gifts them according to their purpose. Enjoy the ride that you are on. Romans 12:4 and 5 is the scriptural reference for today’s devotion.

“Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.”

In this passage, Paul writes of being a living sacrifice unto God. He warns others not to think better of themselves that of others. Instead, be honest in personal self-evaluation. He indicates that God gives gifts to people differently. He is saying to enjoy the gift that God has given to you and use it for His glory. Understand, there are many parts of the body of Christ, and we all belong to one another. Do not be envious of others’ gifts; just use what you have. It is a privilege and honor to be used by God. Thank God for using us. What a blessing it is to be used by God! Therefore, use your gift. Thank God for your gift and enjoy the blessing of the gift(s) He has given to you.
