We all need to be encouraged. Consequently, we need to encourage one another. There will be times in our lives when we may need encouragement from someone who really cares about us. That person may say things that will bless us and encourage us. I cannot put into words the gratitude I have in my heart for those who have spoken words of encouragement to me. I never want to take it for granted, nor become boastful or proud. But I thank God for those words of encouragement that helped me in difficult times. Each of us will need to be encouraged in order to handle life’s problems and burdens at times. Sometimes a prayer, or words of love and encouragement, is all that it takes to help keep somebody going.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:11,we find these words:

“So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.”

The humble servant of the Lord speaks to his people about the need to build each other up. He says, “Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when He returns, we can live with Him forever.” He knows that they have sought to be a blessing to one another, and he wants them to continue. He goes on to say, “Honor those who are your leaders in the Lord’s work. They work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance. Show them great respect and wholehearted love because of their work.” He has a deep concern for them to help each other and to pray for one another. I pray, today, that we are all encouragers, lifting our brothers and sisters up in prayer with words of kindness, gentleness, and encouragement.
