Embrace Wisdom

The past few devotions have come from the Book of Proverbs. This is a profound book that gives us instructions on how to live holy. This book also gives us instructions on how to handle the trials and troubles of life. It imparts much wisdom to us. In Proverbs 1:8, we find these words:

“My child, listen when your father corrects you.  Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.”

According to the writer, wisdom should begin at home. The home is the most important factor in a child’s life. The writer is well aware of the need for religious training and for education in school. But he is clear that  instruction from the father is important. When we read this entire Book of Proverbs, we also find that the writer speaks about the wisdom and anointing of a mother. These words advise  parents as well as children on how to live godly lives. It is my prayer today that we will adhere to the wisdom and guidance found in this Book on how we are to conduct ourselves. Above all, I pray that we embrace this wisdom  that comes from God above.
