DOWN BUT NOT OUT
For several days, I will be sharing devotions from the book of Psalms. Oh yes, the believer of God gets knocked down. However, thanks be unto God that we are down but not out. God is able to renew our strength, pick us up and give us the strength to go on. People might count us out and determine that it is over. However, God has the power, regardless of how hard we fall, to pick us up again, dust us off and start us over again. At times, I have been down, but today I can testify that the God we serve has picked me up. God’s Word is clear; in this life, we will have trials and troubles. Yet, be of good cheer that He has overcome the world. It is a reminder that no matter how hard we fall, He is there to pick us up. Let’s look at Psalm 37:24.
“Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand.”
In this deep passage, the psalmist declares that the hand of God is with His people. He indicates that the righteous need only be patience and put their confidence in the Lord. Believers have the assurance that although they will fall, but God will pick them up. They can depend upon God! The psalmist declares, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.” God is merciful! “Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread,” the psalmist writes. What a wonderful way to live, knowing beyond the shadow of doubt that when we fall, we will get back up again. No weapon formed against us shall prosper.
