DON’T MISS YOUR BLESSINGS
As I write this devotion today, I am aware that God sends forth new blessings every day. Morning by morning, new mercies we see. Our hearts must always be open so we will not miss the blessings God has in store for us. His blessings are all around us. Sometimes we can see them, but we must always remember — we walk by faith and not by sight. We need to hold on to our faith — do not block what the Lord has in store for us! It does not yet appear what we shall be! He is about to do something new — we have to be ready to receive it! In Matthew 6:1, we find these words:
Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven.
Jesus is teaching about giving to the needy. When we give to someone in need it should not be done for recognition, but so that God will get the glory. God loves a cheerful giver. Sometimes, we miss our blessings because we don’t share with others. In this chapter, Jesus says that when you give to someone in need, “don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.” The gifts that are given should be given in private, and our Father, who sees everything, will reward us. Let me say this again, before I close this devotion. God will bless us when we bless others. Don’t miss your blessings!
