DON’T LOSE HEART
It is important for us not to lose heart when we face life’s trials and troubles. When we are confronted with an overwhelming obstacle, we cannot afford to lose sight of who we are and whose we are. Life’s problems will come our way: it is a part of life. Nevertheless, we must remain steadfast in our faith and devotion to God. We have a God on our side who is more than the world against us. We need to remind ourselves always that we are on the winning side. If we are honest, we lose sight of the fact that we are winners and not losers, because God is for us. Not losing heart applies to every life situation: sickness, death, heartache and pain. II Corinthians 4:16 is our scripture lesson today.
“That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.”
Paul, the humble servant of the Lord, clearly speaks of why we should not lose heart. Paul feels a drain on his physical vitality, because of the inward man. Paul knows of trials and sufferings. He is restored and given adequate strength to meet the tests that come his way. The body may wear down, according to Paul, but the renewing grace and power of God keeps his faith and loyalty. Our bodies do become weary and worn. However, the inward being of Christ strengthens us for the journey. We are being renewed each day. Whatever afflictions we face will be brief. They cannot be compared to the glory that God will reveal to us. So know that whatever you are going through, it shall pass. Don’t lose heart, become weary or throw in the towel. Know that god will renew you every day when you turn to Him in prayer.
