DON’T LIVE ON YOUR FEELINGS

As I was preparing this devotion, it spoke to my heart. We cannot simply live on our feelings, because our walk with God is more than feelings. We must always be willing to walk by faith. Relying on your feelings can get you into trouble. I would argue strongly that you could do little in God’s service, if you depend only on your feelings. There may be times when you may not feel like going to church. Alternatively, you may not feel like honoring your commitment to render service unto God. Instead of trusting your feelings, trust God and know that your commitment to Him is deeper than your feelings. Take a moment and reflect upon some of your experiences. I am sure that if you had to rely on your feelings alone, you would not have experienced what those who have trusted God have experienced. Today’s devotion speaks about our faith. We find it in II Corinthians 5:7 and reads in this manner:

“For we walk by faith, not by sight:”

In this passage, Paul writes that our walk is by faith, and not by our sight or feelings. He states that we must be confident. Our trust and allegiance to God must be paramount as we journey with Him. On the other hand, Paul writes that whether we are home or away, nothing separates us from the love of God. Paul thinks of Heaven as his home and he serves the Lord with confidence. He walks by faith, which gives him inner peace and strength. Paul is able to face death with good courage and without fear. It is far more than a feeling. Read this entire chapter when you get a chance and continue to serve the Lord with full confidence and faith.
