As I reflected upon the words of the text for today’s devotion, I thought about the many relationships that have been ruined because of disagreements over money. We constantly hear of people being killed because of money. If we are not careful, money can ruin our lives. I know that we need it, but it can have a devastating effect on our lives if we allow it to be our god. In 1, Timothy 6:10, we find these words:

“For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.”

The writer makes it clear that we brought nothing in this world, and we will not take anything with us when we leave. Consequently, we should be content that we have enough, and not find ourselves falling into the hands of temptation. Verse 10 says, “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.”  Please don’t misunderstand: we do need money to survive. We just cannot allow money to become our god.. Simply put: don’t let money rule you!
