DON’T GET DISCOURAGED
Today’s devotion speaks to those who have felt discouraged. I know I have felt discouraged at times and I know I am not alone. At times, we do not say what we feel. Nevertheless, God knows what we feel. Sometimes, we hide our true feelings. However, discouragement can come from a variety of things. Trouble has a way of knocking us down: sickness, death and others. We can become depressed. When you have done your best and you still find yourself alienated from family and friends, and sometimes the church – you can become discouraged. A scriptural reference that speaks to hanging in there is found in Lamentations 3:25.
“The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh Him.”
The writer speaks of waiting on God. This poet provides new insight into how one can just trust God, put his/her faith in Him, and have a renewed soul. The writer indicates the power of waiting and writes that by the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed because of His compassion. The Lord’s mercies are new each day and one must simply wait, and know that new mercies will come in the morning. Thanks be unto God that weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Don’t give up. Don’t quit. Don’t let your burdens get you down. Look up and live. Whenever you feel discouraged, look to the hills from whence cometh your help. Thank God, today, that there is a bright side and God’s tomorrow will be better than today.
