As believers, we cannot be rebellious. When God speaks to us, we must be willing to listen and obey. Far too often, we turn away from God as opposed to turning to Him. There is a price to pay for rebellious behavior. However, to those willing to follow God, great blessings await. Take a moment and remember a time in your youth when you rebelled against your parents. You paid a price. Thanks, be unto God, today, for how you have learned your lessons and are willing to walk upright for God. The scripture lesson for this devotion is found in Isaiah 50:5, and reads in this manner:

“The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.”

In this passage, we see the Lord has opened the ear of His servant that he might be obedient. The servant is not rebellious, but patiently waits to carry out his ministry. The writer is aware of the consequences that come from disobedience. However, he has opened his heart and ears to follow the Lord’s commands. He has learned to put his trust in God. His heart is overflowing with gratitude as he realizes the power of God. It is my prayer today that your heart is open to God and that you are ready to respond when He calls. That you do not have a rebellious spirit, but a humble, faithful and willing spirit of a servant loving Him with all your heart, soul and mind.
