DON’T BE ANXIOUS ABOUT ANYTHING
If there was ever a time we needed to hear from Jesus, the Master Teacher, it is now. To hear the Master, say, “Do not be anxious about anything” is something we all need to hear. When I say that, I include myself, for I must be open when I pen these words. The Coronavirus has caused me to be anxious and even worried at times. I find myself deeply concerned about the welfare of God’s people. I think of my family. I think of the many who have suffered financial hardships and an ever-growing list of things. I am not in denial. I am being real. Prayerfully, this devotion will speak to our hearts today. Matthew 6:25 is today’s devotional text.
“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?”
Jesus is teaching about money and possessions. He is concerned as He shares with the disciples that no one can serve two masters. You will either love the one or hate the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money or things. He then tells the story of how God provides for the lilies in the field and the birds in the air. Jesus says that worrying about tomorrow is futile, for tomorrow will bring its own set of problems. Read this chapter and look to see what applies to your life and causes you to worry. Then give them to God. It has been said that if you worry why pray, if you pray why worry. Be lifted today that our God is sufficient to satisfy all our needs.
