Doing good deeds will not save us, for we are saved by the grace of God. But we must do good deeds. There are many charitable causes that we can support, and we should support them; however, supporting a charitable cause does not indicate that we have a relationship with God. Whatever deeds we do should honor God and not ourselves. When was the last time that you did a good deed, looking for nothing in return? Prayerfully, every deed that you have done or ever will do, will be done to His glory. In Psalm 103:7, we find these words:

“He revealed his character to Moses and his deeds to the people of Israel.”

God used Moses to bless the people of Israel. Moses was able to do these deeds, not by his own strength, but by God’s power. None of us can do good deeds without God! Our ego would get in the way, or our flesh would take over. If we are not careful, we could become conceited. But, when we have a relationship with God, He allows us to do great things in His name. What a blessing it is to be able to do anything for a good and gracious God! Keep on doing good deeds in the name of the Lord and He will bless you.
