DO YOUR PART: GOD WILL DO THE REST
Today’s devotion speaks about forgiveness. God has called us to forgive. We are not responsible for how others will receive our forgiveness. We have to just do our part and let the Lord do the rest. There is no assurance that when we go to someone and ask for forgiveness that they will receive it. Nevertheless, our responsibility remains to forgive! If we are not willing to forgive others, then God will not forgive us, and we all need God’s forgiveness. Where would we be without His forgiveness? I do not know why it is hard for people to forgive. We make all kinds of excuses. However, God’s Word reminds us about doing our part and letting God do the rest. Matthew 6:14 is our text today.
“If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.”
Do not overlook the next verse, “But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Jesus, the Master Teacher, speaks of the importance of forgiveness. In this chapter, He tells us not to yield to temptation. Rather, we should yield to the Father and do His will and work. We have heard this word forgive many times and it is important to revisit it today. Take the time today to forgive others as God has forgiven us.
