Today, I raise this question: do you love the Lord? We must all answer this question. I include myself in this for we claim to be children of God, our love for Him must be real and true.  We cannot say we love Him and deny Him. Our love for Him is shown in the way we love others. How can we say we love the Lord and not love those we see every day? A portion of scripture found in John 21:15 serves as our devotional text today:

“When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon son of John, do you love Me more than these?’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ He said, ‘You know that I love you.’ Jesus said, ‘Feed my lambs.’”

This passage shows Jesus questioning His disciple, Peter. Peter confidently replies yes each time. The Lord continued to pose the questions. He told Peter if he loved Him to feed His sheep. Jesus knew what love required and wanted to make sure Peter was aware of what his “yes” meant. We sometimes answer without thinking first. We must pay a price when we say we love the Lord. I pose the question again to you: Do you love the Lord? I close this devotion with the question the third time. If so, we must do what He has commanded us to do. Love His people, feed His people and serve His people.
