Do We Really Know Jesus?
Some of us come to church every Sunday, but we still do not know Jesus. Some of us call on His name, but we do not know Him for ourselves. To know Him is to love Him. The more we know Him, the more that love grows. The question posed in this devotion today is, “Do we really know Jesus?” If we know Him, then we know He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). We know Him for the pardon of our sins and we know Him for healing our illnesses and delivering us from trouble. In John 14:9, we find these words:
“Jesus replied, ‘Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you?’”
Even though Jesus had been with the disciples, and shared His power with them, they still did not know Him. Read this chapter when you get a chance to understand the full meaning. Prayerfully, we all really know Jesus.
