Believers trust and hope in God. We rely on Him to direct our every step. Our trust in Him allows us to stay strong during life’s battles. It is in those difficult times that our faith is tested. Therefore, we cannot lose heart and must remain strong in the Lord, for this is vital to our walk with God. Regardless of our faith, we may become weak and weary along the way. We need God to renew us so that we do not lose sight of God’s power. Today’s devotion is relevant to us all. If we are honest, there are times when we are tempted to throw in the towel and give up. God’s Word reminds us that He is able to bring us through. Our scripture reference is found in II Corinthians 4:16 and reads in this manner:

“That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.”

The Apostle Paul speaks of never losing heart. He indicates that whatever troubles we have shall pass. Paul says that the outward man, the physical man, undergoes this weight of affliction. However, the inward man, the spiritual man, is being renewed every day. In other words, the body wears down, but the renewing grace and power of God allows Paul to serve through life’s troubles. He recognizes that His glory will be revealed, and will outweigh the trials and troubles. In the end, the strength of God will have brought victory over affliction. Each day he is being renewed by the power of God. So, Paul says we do not lose heart. Read this chapter when you can and know that trouble will not last always. Your body may be weak and worn but God will renew your soul.
