As people of God, we should always strive to do good deeds that please God. Let me put a disclaimer here: We do not do good deeds for recognition of ourselves, but rather that God will get the glory.   God has called us to love one another, to share with, and to be kind to one another.  Whatever we do we must represent our love and commitment to God — it is not an option but a mandate.  We must do good to
everyone, even to those who may not like us. We must make sure that we are always doing what is right and fair for all of God’s people. In Colossians 3:17,we find these words:

And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

This is how I want to live. In verse 16, the writer says, “Let the message about Christ in all its riches fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom He gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.” We should always have thankful hearts. And we must remember that our new life in Christ has given us a new standard of living. We are required to do good deeds. God requires us to love one another as Christ loves us.
