Divine Potential
God has blessed us in so many ways. He has given us a new lease on life. On our Church Without Walls prayer-line, someone spoke about their journey, sharing how God had cleaned them up. At the conclusion of the person’s testimony, I asked the listeners not to judge the person or use anything mentioned in ways that would dishonor the person. I am so glad that God does not hold our past against
us, but gives us divine intervention, blessing us with divine potential. In Acts 9:26, we find these words:
“When Saul arrived in Jerusalem, he tried to meet with the believers, but they were all afraid of him. They did not believe he had truly become a believer!”
Saul came to Jerusalem to unite with the disciples; however, they were afraid of him. Consequently, Barnabas took him in and brought him to meet with the disciples. It was already part of God’s divine plan for Saul to be blessed by Barnabas. We need more people like Barnabas who are willing to see the potential in us. We all need a Barnabas who will take us by the hand and mentor, coach, and/or support us. Thank God for Pastor Albert Franklin Campbell, Pastor Emeritus of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church who was my Barnabas. God used him to bless me. And I pray that that God is using us to serve as a Barnabas to others, encouraging them to glorify God with the divine potential He has placed in them.
