Delivered Into Your Hands
God will make our enemies our footstools (Psalm 110:1). Consequently, we should never try to take matters into our own hands. We are called to love our enemies and those who spitefully use us (Matthew 5:44). This may be hard to do for some. However, we know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the Lord will deliver us from the hand of the enemy, and, that He might deliver that enemy into our hands. One of the things that is so marvelous about the book of Joshua is that we can easily see Joshua’s constant awareness of God’s guidance. In Joshua 10:8, we find these words:
“’Do not be afraid of them’,” the Lord said to Joshua, “’for I have given you victory over them. Not a single one of them will be able to stand up to you.’”
Joshua is assured that he need not fear, for the Lord has delivered the oppressor into his hand. No one shall come against him for God has granted to him the protection that he needs. He and the people are blessed by the power of God. Joshua has won the heart of God through his faithfulness and God honors him by surrounding him with His power from on high. When you read this incredible story of how the Lord watched over Joshua, remember that the Lord will fight our battles as well, for the battles are not ours, but the Lord’s (2 Chronicles 20:15). We need not fret over evil doers, because in God’s own time, He will right the wrong. May we all be strengthened today knowing that, whenever we face the enemy, God has our backs. He will deliver the enemy into our hands the same as He did for Joshua.
