DELIGHT IN THE LORD
Today’s devotion connects with yesterday’s devotion. Today, we focus on the need to delight in the Lord. Take pleasure in honoring Him. Meditate upon Him day and night. May all that you do give Him praise and glory. Make sure that our motives are right and that your agenda is not about you and more about Him. Take great delight in acknowledging who He is. When I think of those words, I think about what great delight I have in talking about my family. However, I have a greater delight in talking about the goodness of the Lord. Today’s devotion speaks of how David took delight in the Lord. It is found in I Chronicles 29:17 and reads in this manner:
“I know, my God, that you examine our hearts and rejoice when you find integrity there. You know I have done all this with good motives, and I have watched your people offer their gifts willingly and joyously.”
David offers his praise and prayers to God throughout this psalm. He knows that God knows what is in his heart. He is grateful that when the Lord examines Him, He will find honesty and integrity, as his pure motives and will take great delight in honoring the Lord. He is grateful to be able to engage in worship and praise. His heart is overflowing as he calls upon the people to praise the Lord. He delights in the Lord himself and delights in the praises the people give to the Lord. When you get a chance read this entire chapter of David’s great love and admiration for God. See how his heart bubbles over as he reflects upon God’s mercies. May we find ourselves like David, taking great delight in the Lord.
