DEALING WITH THE ENEMY
As I write this devotion for today, it is my fervent prayer that the words on this page will strengthen you. The way that we deal with the enemy has a lot to do with our trust and faith in God. Let me be clear, all of us will have enemies. There is no getting around it. Whenever you seek to serve the Lord, enemies will come. I have also said that if you have no enemies when you serve the Lord, are you really serving Him. It is important that we not lose sight of who we are, for we cannot deal with the enemy using carnal weapons. Our ability to deal with the enemy is a result of God’s power and Spirit. Romans 12:21 is our scripture reference today.
“Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.”
Underline these words, for they guide us in how to deal with our enemy. We cannot fight the enemy on his terms, for he will win every time. Paul says, “Conquer evil by doing good.” You can defeat the enemy by doing what God has called you to do. Do not pay back evil with evil. Bless those who persecute you. Never take revenge for the Lord says, “I will take revenge and pay them back.” If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If your enemy is thirsty, give him drink. In so doing, you will defeat the enemy and put him to shame. Prayerfully, reading this entire chapter will help you deal with the enemy. The instructions are right there. We can be victorious if we follow the Lord’s instructions.
