DEALING WITH ADVERSITY

I want to begin this devotion by asking a question, “How do you deal with adversity?” This is a question that we must ask ourselves, as we will surely deal with adversity at some point in our lives. The Word of God tells us that in this life there will be trials and troubles, but Jesus said, in John 16:33: “… take heart, because I have overcome the world.” Because of this, we should have the confidence that we need to deal with adversity, however we tend to forget those words and allow adversity to tear us apart. We must learn to always put our faith and trust in God, especially in times of trouble. In 1 John 5:4, we find these words:

“For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.”

The writer speaks about the need for us to have faith in God. We are God’s children, and because of this, we have the power to overcome adversity through our faith and trust in God.  We can win the battle! We have victory in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The writer also says that as God’s children, not only do we have to love God and keep His commandments, but we must always rely on Him.  When you get a chance, read this entire chapter. Prayerfully, we will each discover how to deal with adversity.
