Thanks be unto God, who supplies our Daily Bread. He provides our daily needs because He is the Bread of Life. He provides our physical and spiritual bread. Day by day, new mercies are ours to receive. Give God thanks today for supplying us with Daily Bread! In Matthew 6:11, we find these words:

“Give us this day our daily bread.”

This prayer is that we might recognize that He supplies our every need. This prayer is concerned with our day-to-day needs, the physical and spiritual bread that are life’s necessities. The prayer is simplistic. It petitions for bread: not luxury, wealth, or fame. Often, we tend to overlook the most important substance in life and we ask God for things that we really don’t need. And we continue to ask for more and more. There are times when we waste the daily bread that sustains physical life, yet there are others in the world who go to bed hungry each night. Lord, help us always, to be grateful for the daily bread You give to nourish our bodies and souls. Never sit down and eat without thanking God for daily bread. Never take for granted God’s gift of the Bread of Life. He Himself said, “I am the Bread of Life” (John 6:35). May we feast upon Him today.
