Counted Faithful
As I write this devotion, my heart is filled with joy as I think about one of the prayer warriors who participates in the Church Without Walls prayer service. It is a blessing to gather in the morning, praying with others across the nation, because it encourages and uplifts us. One morning, this anointed woman of God, prayed not only that we would be watchful and prayerful, but also that we would be faithful. Her words still radiate in my heart, for God counts on us to not only watch, but also to be faithful. In 1 Timothy 4:12, we find these words:
“Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.”
Paul makes a plea to Timothy and others to be faithful in all things. As Timothy’s mentor and coach, Paul is concerned about Timothy’s spiritual journey. Each of us should have a mentee to coach along their Christian development. But in order to do that, we must first be counted as faithful, because we cannot talk about faithfulness unless we have demonstrated it ourselves. Paul said, in 2 Timothy 4: 7, “I have fought the good fight …I have kept the faith.” Keep the faith and be counted faithful.
