CONTROL YOURSELF

Today’s devotion speaks about the need to control ourselves. We should not do things outside of the will of God. We must control our actions so that we will not act in ways that are ungodly. We must control our minds, so that we think before we speak. We cannot allow ourselves to dishonor God by losing our temper. We must control our temper so that God can use us in ways that will honor Him. We often find members of our society who display out of control behaviors. They tend to get upset over small
things. Everyone suffers because of the inability of these individuals to control themselves, as most often the resolution to the problem is delayed. In Proverbs 25:28, we find these words:

“A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls.”

The writer of this scripture makes clear the need for self-control. In the previous verse he writes, “It’s not good to eat too much honey, and it’s not good to
seek honors for yourself.” These are powerful words that I, too, must be remember. We must always be mindful to present ourselves as if we are in control. Wise guidance for daily living is found in this
chapter. It would be helpful for all of us to read this chapter and to be mindful of our actions. The devil takes delight in watching us lose our control. Therefore, in every situation, remember to stay in control of
your thoughts and your actions so that God will get the glory.
