CONTROL YOUR ACTIONS

It is so important that believers control how they act, for actions speak louder than words. If we are honest, all of us have acted out at one time or another. Some of those actions have hurt others as well as causing us to lose our witness. Our thoughts and actions go together; for so one thinketh, so he is. We must think honorable thoughts and our actions must be honorable. We need to work at controlling our actions and not allow the flesh to get in the way. Today’s devotion speaks of this in I Thessalonians 5:8.

“But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation.”

In this chapter, we see those who live in the night and those who live in the day. Those living in the night are filled with themselves; those in the day are filled with God. They are ready for battle with Satan. They put on the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith and the helmet of salvation. They practice patience, honor God, and do not let their actions get in the way. Paul provides them with practical application on how to live. It is my prayer today that you read this entire chapter and that you control your actions so that God will get the glory out of your lives.
