CONSTANT PRAISE
It is crucial for us to learn to be consistent in our praise. As God is consistently
faithful and true in our lives, our sense of reverence and awe should constantly be
relevant in our lives. There is a song I heard, “An incredible God deserves
incredible praise.” I think this is a true statement. When we reflect on God’s
goodness, we are called to respond in the same manner. If God is always good, we
should always praise Him. The Psalmist says:
“I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my
mouth.”
What a striking statement! David does not say he will “try” to bless the Lord, but
he is making a commitment. How can one make such a bold declaration? I believe
that this is a surprising statement for us, because we often base our praise on how
we feel, rather than the goodness of God. If we simply think on the goodness of
Jesus and all He has done for us, we will learn how to have constant praise. Praise
is not based on my circumstances, but the goodness of God. I am reminded of the
words of my pastor, Rev. Dr. Albert F. Campbell, “Life sometimes is unfair, but
God is still good!” Through the good times and hard times, think on God’s
goodness and keep constant praise in your mouth, today.
