Many people have asked me how to pray. I must confess that I am not an expert in praying. But, I do believe with all my heart that when you pray you must have faith and confidence that God will hear and answer your prayer. I remember leading the congregation in prayer as an associate minister at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Reverend Albert Campbell, Pastor Emeritus, my mentor, coach and spiritual father would advise me saying, “When you lead the congregation in prayer, have confidence. Do not ask may we pray, but let us pray.” I shall never forget those words. Prayer is conversation with God. We need not try to prove our ability to anyone our oratorical skills. We must pray from the heart. In I John 5:14 we read of prayer:

“And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us:”

In this scripture, John states that we must be confident that if we ask anything in His name, He will grant it to us. It is essential that we know the power of prayer. He says that we should not pray with doubt or skepticism. God will answer according to His will when you pray with full confidence. In the 15th verse, John writes that God hears us whenever we ask. Our requests are made known to Him. Just remember, when you pray, pray with confidence
