Confidence in God
It is amazing that when we read the Word of God, we see how God blesses His people. In today’s devotion we see how Moses summoned Joshua and urged him to be strong in the Lord. Moses encouraged Joshua to put his confidence in God so he could lead the people of Israel. In Deuteronomy 31:8, we find these words:
“’Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.’”
Moses showed no fear for the future for he knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that God would fulfill His promises. In verse 8 he merely repeated what he already stated in verse 6, “ For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” Moses had confidence in God, and he prepared Joshua for the gigantic task that was before him. Moses assured Joshua that he was not alone. What a wonderful way to live our lives, with full and complete confidence in God! Whatever journey we are on in life, there is no need for us to fear, for God is with us. In fact, He goes before us. It does not matter how tedious the journey may be. With God on our side, there is nothing that can stop us. May we have complete trust and confidence in the God we serve. Great and mighty is our God!
