COMPLETE THE TASK
Whenever the Lord gives you a task to do, complete it! Do not leave the work undone, finish what you start! Some people start off working for the Lord, then as soon as things do not go their way they quit, leaving their tasks incomplete. In the book that I wrote, entitled, “It’s Not Where You Start, It’s Where You Finish That Counts,” I discuss this issue of completing the task that God has given us to do. Here we are in December, the last month of the year, and in a few weeks, many will make resolutions for the New Year. Whatever you commit yourself to do, finish it! Finish what you start! In John 16:10, we find these words:
“Righteousness is available because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more.”
Jesus, the Master Teacher is speaking to His disciples, telling them that He will be going away. The Master does not want them to grieve, but He wants them to understand that He must go away because His task is complete. He goes on, telling them, “There is so much more I want to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth.” He wants them to do the work of the Holy Spirit. Jesus completed His task, and He wanted the disciples to finish theirs. That is the message today —complete the task! Finish what you start!
