Clean Hands
It is so important for believers to have clean hands and pure hearts. In this journey of life, our hands can become dirty and our hearts contaminated from sin and ungodly deeds. Our hearts can become cold, distant and callous; we need God to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, to purify us and wash us anew. No amount of detergent can wash our hands and cleanse our hearts — we need God! It is amazing that we can wash our hands, yet if we put them under a microscope, there would still be germs on our skin. Even though we may use hand sanitizer, we are finding that it does not remove all of the germs and bacteria. Likewise, we may think that our hearts are clean, but they may not be. Things may have built up on the inside that cause us to need a thorough cleansing from the Lord. In Psalm 24:4, we find these words:
“Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols
and never tell lies.”
The psalmist begins this chapter by saying, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.” He goes on to say, in verse three, “Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place?” We see the response above in verse four. Prayerfully, we all have clean hands and a pure heart today. If not, we should go to God and ask Him to cleanse us and forgive us, and to wash us thoroughly. He is able to do it! We sing the song, “What can wash away your sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.” Thank God today for the blood that cleanses us from all unrighteousness.
