Clean Hands and a Pure Heart

Our God is Holy and Righteous.  We cannot come into His presence with hardened hearts or unclean hands.  We must always approach Him with holy hands and pure hearts; therefore, it is necessary for us to always examine ourselves every time we come into His presence.  It is possible that our hands may not be clean or our hearts may not be pure.   We may need His forgiveness in order to stand before Him with clean hands and pure hearts.  To be in His presence is awesome.  The psalmist asks in the 3rd verse, “Who may stand in His Holy place?”  We find the answer in today’s scripture lesson. In Psalm 24:4, we find these words:

“Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.”

The psalmist defines true worshipers as those whose hearts are not empty, false, or full of hatred and those who do not swear deceitfully.  Every time we enter into His presence, we need to remember what is required of us — this is not just for corporate worship on Sunday, but it applies to our daily lives when we pray.  May God be pleased today knowing we are true worshipers with clean hands and pure hearts.
