CHRISTMAS EVE – GOD IS WITH US

As we plan for this Christmas Eve, we give God thanks for this joyous Christmas season. I love Christmas. I am like a child at Christmas: loving the giving of gifts, decorating the tree, and family gatherings. It is a wonderful time of the year. But, far more than that, we celebrate the Savior’s birth indicating that God is with us. If there was ever a time to know that God is with us, it is now. This year has been filled with pain, heartache, and grief. With all the things that we have been through; Coronavirus, floods, fires, and killings – we can still give God praise. He has allowed us to see the dawning of Christmas morning. Rejoice today, that God is with us. The scripture reference for this devotion is Matthew 1:23 and reads in this manner:

“Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’”

In Matthew’s gospel, we read that Jesus was born of a virgin and His birth brought joy to the world. Immanuel means “God with us,” to save us from our sins, to bless us and forgive us. On This Christmas Eve, let us celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. He is the greatest gift of all times.
