It is with joy in our hearts and gratitude on our lips that we give God the glory on this Christmas Eve.  We the people of God have every reason to celebrate, for we have the blessed knowledge that our Savior was born on Christmas Day.  Knowing Jesus is the reason for the season is far greater than any Christmas gift we will receive or any gathering we might attend.  This is not to minimize the gift giving for Christmas or the family Christmas meals, but rather it is just our awareness of the blessed birth.  The year 2019 has been a year like many in the past with challenges, calamities, and disasters which have brought with it bad news.  Nevertheless, we have good news on this day and we can join with the angels in singing, “Joy to the World”.  Luke the Gospel writer records the birth of the Savior in Luke 2:11. The verse reads in this manner:

“The Savior – yes, the Messiah, the Lord – has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!”

Luke the physician speaks about the heavenly hosts in the previous verse saying glory to God, peace on earth.  Heavens glory ushers in peace to the world.  The birth of the Savior changed the course of history. His birth brought with it a new beginning and a new era. The favor of God was given to us.  You will see as you read this chapter, not only were the heavens rejoicing but shepherds were praising God along with Mary and Joseph.  It is my prayer today that you can join the countless people who are giving God glory and honor on this Christmas Eve.  May you be strengthened today with the knowledge that we have a Savior. Let us celebrate His birth and let us always remember we have a Savor with us always
