CHRIST LIVES IN ME
I remember growing up in Sunday School where we would sing a song with the lyrics: “I serve a Risen Savior. He is in the world today. He walks with me and He talks with me along life’s narrow way. He Lives, He Lives, Christ Jesus lives today.” As I’ve grown, I recognize that Christ lives and He lives inside me. Oh, what joy comes to my soul knowing Christ lives in my heart? The burdens and cares of life press me down at times, but the Christ inside me lifts me up and reminds me I’m not alone. That has been true in so many situations in my life and I’m sure I am not alone. The knowledge that Christ lives in each of us was expressed in Galatians 2:20 where we find these words:
“He gave names to all the livestock, all the birds of the sky, and all the wild animals. But still there was no helper just right for him.”
Paul writes that he is crucified with Christ and has an interrelationship with Christ that allows Him to reign in his life. He no longer lives for himself or his flesh, but lives by the power and love of God. Paul knew when the Lord came into his life; he found peace and pardon for his sins. All his sins were crucified and he no longer lived under the weight and guilt of sin. Paul’s confession of faith allowed him to experience a new life knowing his old life was put to death and his new life gave him eternal peace. What a wonderful testimony Paul makes. We who have come to Christ can also say Christ lives in us. It is my fervent prayer, today, that your life expresses the love of Christ not just in word, but also in deed. Paul’s testimony is simply not words alone but rather his suffering for the sake of Christ. Throughout Paul’s writings, he makes it clear over and over again, about the life he now lives as a result of coming to Christ. Is that your testimony today? I pray it is so.
