Have you ever smelled the aroma of a perfume or cologne that took your breath away? If you have, you probably asked, what is the name of that aroma or where did you get it? An aroma comes to those who give their lives to Christ. It is a sweet aroma: a fragrance that permeates our lives. For we are the aroma of Christ to God, therefore our lives should always bear spiritual fragrance so that we will draw others to Him. That is what Christ wants us to be, to have a Christ-like fragrance. We see this in II Corinthians 2:15 where we read these words:
“Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and by those who are perishing.”
Here, the writer of these words speaks about this sweet aroma. Paul states that our message and our lives embody the fragrance of Christ. Everyone who hears it, whether they are saved or unsaved, will be attracted to this savor. It has a never-ending power and sustains us through all of life. Nothing can destroy this aroma. It stands out as light in darkness. It is God’s aroma filled with grace, mercy, and love. I pray today that you have been blessed with the sweet aroma of Christ that comes from those who are saved and have eternal life.
