CHARACTER PRODUCES HOPE

It is important that we live lives that are pleasing unto God, demonstrating that we know “who we are” and “whose we are.” In other words, we should not do anything that would cause God pain. I remember my grandmother saying, “When you leave this house don’t bring me any disgrace. Protect your character. Remember who you are.” I would argue strongly that the notion that some people have that it does not
matter what people think about us is so far from the truth. People sometimes remember more what we do than what we say. Integrity is valuable and means everything. Be a person of honor and one who has a good character. In Romans 5:4, we find these words:

“And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.”

The writer of this scripture speaks about endurance and strength of one’s character. When I run into problems and trials, I have been able to develop endurance that gives me a firm hope of salvation. I
pray that you have been able to experience this same hope of salvation. This hope will not lead to disappointment because we know how dearly God loves us. He gave us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with love. No matter what we do, we must maintain a good name. If we develop a lifestyle that is more Christ-like, we will build a character of integrity that produces hope.
