CARING FOR GOD’S PEOPLE
We are mandated to provide food, clothing, and shelter to those in need. Whenever we have the opportunity to help someone in need, we should do so with a willing spirit, and without seeking any recognition for ourselves. We will be blessed for doing as God commands. In Matthey 25:40, we find these words:
“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’”
We are called upon by God to care for and to help His people — not some of His people, but all of His people, especially those who are in need. In verses 35 and 36, Jesus says, “For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.” The Word also tells us, in verses 31 through 34, that on judgement day, those who have followed His commandments will be blessed. Read this chapter, when you get a chance, to understand the wonderful blessings that await us when we listen to and follow the Word of God. It is my prayer, today, that we are all striving to follow His command — to care for His people.
