Can We Continue In Sin?

Today’s devotion poses a deep and profound question. This question is one that affects every believer, for when we accepted Christ, all things were made new. He has taken away our sins and given us a new lease on life. Consequently, how can we remain in sin when God has set us free? We have to be willing to allow God to be God and not continue in our old sinful habits. We have to ask God how to break the stronghold of sin. As believers, we cannot be in sin and feel good about it. Nor can we find new words to replace sin. Sin is Sin! Anything that dishonors God is sinful. We cannot free ourselves from sin; we need the grace of God. Thank God for His grace that saves us from sin! In Romans 6:1, we find these words:

“Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of His wonderful grace?”

Paul’s new life in Christ has granted him freedom and liberty from the power and reign of sin. The same is true for us as we no longer live in bondage, but we are free by the wonderful, marvelous grace of God. Paul writes clearly about the righteousness of God. He speaks about being dead to sin, which requires a willingness to surrender completely and fully. In Galatians 2:20, he says, “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.” Prayerfully, today we have been released, set free, and no longer desire a life of sin. Each of us should ask God, today, to strengthen us so that our walk with Him will give us full and complete freedom.
