Life’s trials and troubles can wear us down. If we are honest, there are times when we have felt burned out trying to deal with all the burdens and cares of life. If you have never felt burned out, just keep on living for the time will come when you need to be renewed and refreshed. Before I continue, I want to pose this question: What do you do when you feel burned out? How do you handle it? The Word of God is the remedy for those of us who know the Lord. Our scripture reference for today’s devotion is Matthew 11:30. The verse reads in this manner in the New Living Translation:
“For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
Jesus, the Master Teacher, is praying a prayer of Thanksgiving. He indicates that His Father has trusted everything into His hands. Jesus gives a glorious invitation “Come to me all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.” According to God’s Word, He says, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am humble and gentle.” What the Master is saying is come to Him when you are burned out. He will give you rest for your soul. He will renew your strength. He will empower you. What a gracious invitation. Whenever you feel burned out, you are able to go to the Lord and find the strength you need to carry on.
