It is so crucial that we build our lives on a solid foundation: not on materialism or earthy things. those things will crumble and fall apart.  I might add that this pertains to every aspect of life.  Nothing built on a soft foundation will last.  If a marriage is built simply on the flesh, it will soon crumble and fall apart.  The list could go on and on, because every foundation will be tried. When testing time comes anything not built on a solid foundation will be destroyed.  I don’t know why it is difficult for us to understand the importance of having God as our solid foundation. Matthew 7:24 declares that we build on a solid foundation.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”

Here the Master gives a parable that speaks clearly about a wise man who built his house on a rock and a foolish man who built his house on sand. The Master talks about what happened when the storms came, and how the house built on less than a solid foundation began to crumble. He speaks about the fact that given the blueprint for the foundation those who do not listen, will soon discover the dangers of not paying attention to the lesson.  We have been given instructions so we cannot plead ignorant or act as though we do not know. Those who are wise will follow this teaching, while those who are foolish will pay the consequences.  Let me conclude by saying that there are many homes that look good, are well furnished with all sorts of  amenities, and from every appearance look like a good investment, however, if the foundation, is not secure regardless of all of the beauty on the outside the home, it will fall apart.  In other words, listen to the songwriter: “Build on your solid foundation”.
