I hope that you have not sought to build on any other foundation than Christ. Many people seek other foundations to build on; but without Christ, the one true foundation, you have no security.  Reflect on the many foundations we have seen fall apart in one year.  Thanks be unto God that the one true foundation, Jesus Christ, is not only stable but it never changes.  Time and events cannot change this foundation.  Storms and calamities cannot alter this foundation.  Cast your eyes today on the Word of God for in Matthew 7:24 we find these words:

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.”

Here once again Jesus is sharing a parable.  It is about a wise man who built his house upon a rock, and when the rains came and the winds blew with all of its force, the house did not fall because it was founded upon a rock. On the other hand, the foolish one built his house upon the sand, and when the rain and floods came and beat upon the house, the house fell. The scripture says great was the fall.  The power and authority of God is on that solid foundation.  Here in this recording by Matthew, Christ is the builder.  He who hears and responds is the wise builder who builds upon the solid foundation.  Once again, there are messages in this parable.  Those of us who hear the Word of God would be wise to follow the Word of God and build on a solid foundation.  This is the Word of God.  We are foolish when we hear and seek to build on other foundations.  They are like sand that will not hold up in the storm.  The songwriter says, “Build your hope on things eternal, hold to God’s unchanging hand”.  May you build today on that solid foundation.
